The Amazon boasts the world’s greatest variety of wildlife, but no one had ever seen anything quite like this.

Gliding through the dense, waterlogged vegetation was a 20ft long, 18 ½ st green anaconda — one of the world’s most terrifying creatures.

Moving tentatively towards it was a man on his hands and knees pretending to be a wild boar — clad head to toe in a black armoured suit slathered in pig’s blood.

Paul Rosolie was on a terrifying mission: to be eaten alive by the biggest and mightiest snake on Earth.

The 27-year-old wildlife presenter and his ten-strong team had spent 60 days struggling up to the headwaters of the world’s largest river, battling electric eels, floods and poachers.

19 year old Miss Exclusive Nigeria 2014 and Most Beautiful Girl in Kalabari 2014, Mabel Sobio Tonye, who died on November 22nd after complaining of stomach pains, was laid to rest today Dec. 5th at her hometown, Abonnema in Rivers State. Aquatic Infant - Moment When Father Dippped His 31hour Old Baby Into The Pool

The amazing moment when Little Phoenix (barely a day old) was taking to the pool by his father after he was delivered by a cesarean process. According to mail online, He is so tiny he fits easily into his father’s hands, still so young he has barely opened his eyes for more than a few minutes. But at one day old, Master Phoenix Charles Elwell, all pink and wrinkly, is taking happily to the water. Never mind that he still has a lot to learn before he can actually swim – or that he wouldn’t keep afloat without those helping hands, despite having a jolly good try. For Phoenix is the youngest child ever to be enrolled as a Water Baby in a national programme aimed at making swimming not just safe, but fun for all the family.

He was born by caesarean section at 10.44am, a healthy 8lb 5oz. At 10.50am he got his first cuddle from his 30-year-old father Simon Elwell, dressed in a hospital gown as he held him proudly for a milestone snapshot.

Pregnant women who have the odd drink should avoid red wine, researchers suggest. They say that an ingredient in the wine that is normally viewed as healthy could harm their unborn child's pancreas. Resveratrol has been credited with having protective effects against heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer's disease and a number of other conditions. Naturally present in red wine, red grapes and some berries, it is also available as a supplement.

Nigerian Police Nabs Four Teenagers For Cultism

The Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Lagos State Police Command has arrested six suspected cultists in the Moshalashi Street, Somolu, and its neighbouring areas.

Our correspondent gathered that the suspects also confessed to armed robbery.

PUNCH Metro learnt that among them were four teenagers whose names were given as Toheeb Shehu, 18, Segun Rafiu, 16, Seun Atilade, 19, and Tunde Ogunyemi, 18. The two others were named as Adewumi Adeyemi, 22, and Muhideen Hassan, 21.

Our correspondent gathered that while some of the suspects belonged to the Eiye Cult Group, others belonged to the Aye Cult ─ both of which clashed in the area many times, leading to the death of no fewer than eight people.

I'm Facing Hard Times - TB Joshua

                              

Founder of the Synagogue Church of all Nations, Prophet Temitope Joshua, says he has been facing hard times since the collapse of his church guesthouse in Lagos.

He, has however said that he would survive the trying times.

A six-storey guesthouse belonging to the church collapsed last Friday, killing no fewer than 80 persons.

A message on SCOAN official Facebook page quotes TB Joshua as saying that he would not be “destroyed” by the incident.

“Hard times may test me, they cannot destroy me,” TB Joshua said, adding, “To withstand hard times, stand with Christ. When you face trials, hard times, you can count it all joy if you add faith.”

Quoting the Bible, TB Joshua appeared to be reaching out to his thousands of followers across the world via the social network, just as he stated that God sometimes makes use of hard times to “draw us to Himself.”

Military Dismisses GOC Attacked By Convicted Soldiers

   

Military authorities have retired the former General Officer Commanding the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maiduguri, Maj. Gen. Abubakar Mohammed.

Investigations by The PUNCH   revealed this on Tuesday just as the Nigeria Labour Congress, the Trade Union Congress and   human rights lawyers pleaded for the pardon of 12 soldiers who were sentenced to death by a military court on Monday.

The soldiers, who had on May 14, 2014 fired shots at Mohammed, in Maiduguri, were convicted for mutiny and other offences such as insubordination .

Investigations revealed that Mohammed was retired after he was recalled to the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army without posting for months after the soldiers’ attempt on his life.

It was gathered from a top military source in Abuja that the Army authorities quietly retired him last month.

Ayo Oritsejafor admits ownership of cash-stacked jet seized in SA

Yesterday there were reports that a private jet was seized and two Nigerians were being investigated for trying to smuggling $9.3 million in cash into South Africa (read here). It turns out that the private jet the money was found in belongs to the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN president, Ayo Oritsejafor via a company he co-owns, Eagle Air. But in a statement released today, Pastor Oritsejafor said he had leased the jet to another company so had no control over the use of the jet.

"On behalf of Pastor Oritsejafor, we can confirm that although he holds an interest in Eagle Air, the aircraft in question is not operated by Pastor Oritsejafor. The aircraft was leased to, and is operated by Green Coast Produce Limited since August 2” a statement from the church read.

Green Coast Produce Limited then released a statement saying that the aircraft was hired by one John Ishyaku and therefore they can't be liable for any alleged infractions either in Nigeria or South Africa after the hire.
